Two trucks collide, drivers killed in mishap

HOSHIARPUR: Two trucks collided on Tuesday late night, near the Nasrala Bridge on National highway, leaving both the drivers dead.

Two trucks collided on Tuesday late night, near the Nasrala Bridge on National highway, leaving both the drivers dead.

The deceased were identified as Surinder Singh, a resident of Rattewali Balachaur village and Pawan Kumar, a resident of Bilaspur Himachal Pradesh. Pawan Kumar had died on the spot, while Surinder Singh died on the way to the Civil Hospital.

Mandiala police chowki’s in-charge Paramjit Singh was investigating the case. Surinder Kumar’s elder brother Binder Kumar and other relatives of the deceased driver said at 10 pm, Surinder told his family members that after unloading the truck at Hoshiarpur mandi, he would go to Jalandhar mandi.

At 12 o’clock in the night, the police informed them on the mobile number written on the truck and reported the incident. Surinder Kumar is survived by his wife Anju Devi and 5-year-old son Vishal. Mandiala Police Chowki in-charge, ASI Paramjit Singh said after the post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the family. The police have initiated the proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) Act.
