National secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tarun Chugh has criticized Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for re-inaugurating the Partition Museum almost 10 months after it was done by SAD president and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Chugh said while most Congress leaders, including the MLAs, were trying to hog the limelight by taking credit for the development work done by the previous SAD-BJP government, it was something which was not expected of the Chief Minister.

The BJP leader said it was unfortunate that a leader of the stature of Captain Amarinder Singh chose to re-inaugurate a project which had already been inaugurated. He said everybody knew that the Partition Museum was dedicated to the nation after Sukhbir dedicated the Heritage Street leading to Sri Darbar Sahib in the holy city.

Chugh reminded Amarinder that on November 1, 2016, former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Union Ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Vijay Sampla had visited the Partition Museum and hailed the good work done by the state government. The event was covered by TV channels as well as digital and the print media.

He said even the website of the Partition Museum carried the information regarding its inauguration by Sukhbir Badal and the visit of the Chief Minister and the Union Ministers.

The BJP leader said by re-inaugurating an already inaugurated project, Amarinder has not only tried to mislead the people of Punjab but also lowered the prestige of the august office of the Chief Minister.

Chugh said it was ironical that a Chief Minister who had ordered that no inauguration would be done by the elected representatives had chosen to re-inaugurate a project just to gain political mileage.
