The district president of the Guardian of Governance (GOG), Punjab, Lt-Col (retd) Harbans Singh Kahlon, said the Punjab government would soon release the honorarium of village sarpanches.

Honorarium of sarpanches was lying pending from the tenure of SAD-BJP government and the GOG had been pursuing the matter with the ruling dispensation, he said.

In recent meeting of GOG members with Capt Amarinder Singh, the Punjab CM assured that the honorarium would be released soon, he added. “We have also requested the CM to make GOG representatives as member of the village supervisory committees so that benefit of various government welfare schemes can reach the poor and needy,” he said. — TNS
