Nirdosh School for Special Children played a host to current Fbb Colors Femina Miss India Punjab-2018 Anna Kler and yesteryear winner Miss Femina Helene Curtis 1971 Neelam Dhanda.

During an interaction with The Tribune, the beauty pageants claimed that along with the titles they achieved comes social responsibilities.

Kler (24) was recently crowned Miss India Punjab in Delhi. Epitomising “beauty with purpose”, she looks after the children of women convicts in Ludhiana jail. This act eventually earned her the title of Rajnigandha Pearls Miss Goodness ambassador at the beauty pageant.

“No one is really aware of the condition of children who live inside jails with their mothers. Such kids are mentally upset and are wary of outside world,” Kler said.

Neelam Dhanda (66), who runs Neelam Boutique at Pakhowal Road, is a former beauty queen hailing from Ludhiana, who was crowned Miss Femina Helene Curtis in 1971 at the age of 19.

Dhanda said, “My family members showed indifference as I participated in beauty contest. I think if you have the ability to do something, just do it and follow your heart.”
