Gurminder Singh Grewal
Khamano December 12
Although the Shaheedi Jor Mela of Fatehgarh Sahib, attributed to the memory of younger Sahibzada of Guru Gobind Singh is near, the condition of Khamano-Fatehgarh Sahib road from Sanghol up to Bassi Pathana is still in bad shape.
The Jor Mela is stated to be organised on December 25,26 and 27 and a large number of people will pass through this road towards Fatehgarh Sahib, to pay homage to the martyrs, but the department concerned had failed to finish the repair work in time.
The stone and gravel had been put up in a large area, but the carpeting could not be started.
The commuters had to face difficulty in reaching to their destinations via the road. In the mean time, a number of villagers, including that of Luhari Kalan, Dhunda, Hajipur and Burj, in a letter to the Deputy Commissioner demanded carpeting of the road.
In the letter, the villagers said the repair of the road has been carried out at a very slow pace and still stone and gravel had not been put up at all places in the road and the commuters are a harried lot.
The villagers led by Rajbir Singh of Luhari village had demanded to speed up the repair work of the road in view of Shaheedi Jor Mela without any delay to prevent a large number of commuters from inconvenience.
