LUDHIANA: With the arrest of two persons, the Jagraon police claimed to have cracked a loot case within 24 hours.

With the arrest of two persons, the Jagraon police claimed to have cracked a loot case within 24 hours.

The police have arrested two persons and recovered a stolen motorcycle and cash from them. The accused have been identified as Chamkaur Singh of Agwar Lopon area of Jagraon and Satnam Singh of Amarghar Kaler village near Jagraon.

The police have recovered a stolen motorcycle, (PB 10 CD 1453) allegedly used by the accused during the loot incident, and cash from the accused. According to the police, both accused are hardcore criminals and were wanted by the police in many other robbery incidents that have taken place in the area in the past.

Giving details, ASI Gursewak Singh said the accused were arrested during investigation of a robbery incident, during which the accused had looted Rs400 and an Aadhaar card from two migrant labourers near Kaunke Kalan village on Saturday. Following the incident, the police had registered a case against unidentified persons on the complaint of victim Mukesh Mandal, a resident of Udha Kishanganj village of Madhepura district in Bihar.  “The accused are drug addicts and started looting people to buy drugs. The accused have confessed to their involvement in more than a dozen loot and snatching incidents that took place in Jagraon area in the past some time. Satnam Singh was released on bail from jail only a few days ago and after coming out of jail he again started looting people,” ASI Gursewak Singh said.  He said Chamkaur Singh is facing four cases of loot and two cases under the NDPS Act, while Satnam Singh is facing four cases of loot.
