Man deserts wife, daughter

Priyanka Rani and her daughter Soni Kumari (six) alleged that despite the court order her husband has failed to pay maintenance allowance.

An elderly woman, Hakko Devi, who is a daily wage labourer from Bihar, and presently resides at Bihari Colony in the Tajpur area, alleged that her daughter Priyanka was married to Jatinder Sahni. She alleged that after marriage he started torturing her daughter. He threw Priyanka and his six-year-old daughter out from the house recently. “Now, he has deserted his wife and daughter,” said Hakko.

“My daughter Priyanka and granddaughter are living with me. Due to my age factor, I am not able to do labour work. We are now living in utter penury. Although the court has ordered Jatinder to pay Rs 4,000 maintenance allowance, he did not pay even a single penny. We are struggling for our daily bread,” said Hakko.

The elderly woman added that her son-in-law had fled to Samrala. “Now his kin living in Ludhiana are still torturing us,” she alleged.

“I have filed a complaint with the police to take action against kin of my son-in-law, but till date nothing has been done,” she added.

Hakko appealed that she along with her daughter was living in utter penury and struggling to earn daily meals. She said, “I will be thankful if someone can help us financially.”
