Ludhiana, November 19

A man posing as customer fled with a Creta near Bharat Nagar Chowk yesterday. He was captured on a CCTV camera.

The complainant, Yogesh Bansal of Bharat Nagar, said he dealt in old cars. On the evening of November 17, a man posing as customer came to his shop and said he wanted to buy a Creta. “I called car dealer Amit Sharma, who owns Sri Ram Dealer shop, and he sent a 2017 model Creta (PB09 A D8600). Amit’s driver Gurpreet drove the vehicle,” said Bansal.

The car was shown to the customer (a turbaned man) who requested a trial run. He started the car and before driver Gurpreet could sit on passenger’s seat, the former sped away.

The complainant said all documents of the car were in the dashboard. The vehicle has been registered on the name of Raj Kumar of Model Town, Kapurthala.

The complainant said the turbaned man had come to his shop on November 9. He had said that he would come on November 10. But he came to the shop on November 17, said Bansal.

The police have registered a case of cheating under section 420 of the IPC.
