City-based Gurnihal strikes gold medal in shooting event

LUDHIANA: Gurnihal Singh Garcha of Ludhiana added another feather in his cap as he clinched a gold medal in the 62nd edition of the National Shooting Championship Competition (NSCC) which concluded at Jaipur on Monday.

Gurnihal Singh Garcha of Ludhiana added another feather in his cap as he clinched a gold medal in the 62nd edition of the National Shooting Championship Competition (NSCC) which concluded at Jaipur on Monday.

The District Rifle Association informed that junior skeet shooter Gurnihal Singh Garcha set a new national record of 56 hits out of possible 60 points in the junior category. Gurnihal also helped Punjab shooting squad to claim a gold medal in the team event as well.

Prior to this achievement, Gurnihal, who has been pursuing LLB at the Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, made his mark in skeet shooting by securing an individual bronze medal and team silver medal in the World Championship held in September at South Korea.

He also figured the national skeet contingent that bagged a silver medal in the World Cup Shooting Championship at Sydney in March.

Lt Col JS Brar (Retd), President, District Rifle Association, Ludhiana, along with other office-bearers of the body appreciated the outstanding performance by Gurnihal.
