Swachhta Pakhwada observed

Ludhiana: As per the guidelines of the Ministry of Human Resource and Development Department, Giovernment of India, the NSS wing of BCM college organised a fortnight long Swachhta Pakhwada on the theme ‘Save Water’ and ‘Say No to Plastics’ from September 1 to 15.



Ludhiana: As per the guidelines of the Ministry of Human Resource and Development Department, Giovernment of India, the NSS wing of BCM college organised a fortnight long Swachhta Pakhwada on the theme ‘Save Water’ and ‘Say No to Plastics’ from September 1 to 15. The programme was marked by an extravaganza of events and competitions on the same theme. To sensitise students to say no to non-biodegradable materials, workshops on ‘Bags from Rags’ and ‘Best out of Waste’ were organised, during which students made bags, files and folders from waste cloth. An exhibition of these items was also put up to motivate everyone.

Ru-ba-ru with Punjabi poetess

The postgraduate department of Punjabi and Punjabi Sahit Sabha of Khalsa Collge for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, in collaboration with the Punjabi Sahit Academy, Ludhiana, organised a talk with poetess Pal Kaur. Principal Rajwinder Kaur Hundal welcomed Pal Kaur. Pal Kaur has seven poetry books to her credit. She is also writing poems based on the Mohenjodaro civilisation. Her poems are part of the syllabus of undergraduate course of Punjabi at colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. She motivated students to express their views in the form of poems as poems best described life situations. 

Creative-writing competition

An inter-class creative-writing competition on contemporary issues of social concern was organised by the department of Punjabi of Kamla Lohtia SD College. The themes for the competition were Maa boli for poem writing, Istri di trasadi for story writing and Media di pahunch for essay writing. Around 40 students from different streams participated in this competition. 

field trip to hospital 

Department of BVoc (Hospital Administration and Management) of Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women organised a field day for 27 students to Atam Shukal Jain Charitable Hospital. Students visited dental clinic, ophthalmology department and department of medicine where they got the chance to learn about various clinical procedures. The non-clinical staff of the hospital delivered lecture on managing hospitals. 

Job fest organised

The career counselling committee of SCD Government College organised a job fair on the campus. Principal Dharam Singh Sandhu welcomed Atul Kumar and his team from Top Careers and You (TCY). Atul Kumar, training manager at a local recruiting firm TCY, spoke to students about the benefits of earning while learning. As many as 30 students were shortlisted from various undergraduate and postgraduate classes during the placement drive, who would now report to their respective companies and receive training. TNS
