Police DAV, Doraha Public School enter league phase

Ludhiana, July 20

Six teams in the boys’ section and four in the girls’ section have qualified for the league round in the Sub-Junior Ludhiana District Basketball Tournament (U-14) held at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Doraha Public School, Doraha, along with DAV Public School, Pakhoval Road, Baba Ishar Singh Public School, Green Land School, Subhash Nagar, Police DAV School and Gymkhana Club advanced into the league stage.

In the girls’ section, teams that secured berths in the league phase are Police DAV School, Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Doraha Public School and Guru Harkrishan Public School, Doraha.

Matches in the league phase will be organised next month after the qualifiers attend coaching camp.

Today, in the boys’ section, Baba Ishar Singh Public School overpowered Police DAV School 13-6 after leading 9-1 at half time, while DAV Public School, Pakhoval Road, outplayed the AIC Academy 21-13. The winners were leading 5-2 at the end of the second quarter. In other matches (boys), Doraha Public School got the better of Green Land School, Subhash Nagar, 21-15; Doraha Public School pipped BCM Senior Secondary School, Dugri, 26-13 and Gymkhana Club outnumbered Green Land School, Subhash Nagar, 24-12.

In the girls’ section, Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School defeated Doraha Public School 28-12; Police DAV School beat Guru Harkrishan Public School 20-3; Police DAV School outclassed DCM Presidency School 14-2; and Doraha Public School beat BCM Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh road.
