Police DAV girls, Gymkhana Club players register wins

LUDHIANA: Police DAV Public School, Civil Lines, girl’s U-19 category while Gymkhana Club in the boys’ U-17 group scored victories to advance into next round on third day of the Ludhiana district sub-junior, junior and youth basketball championship for boys and girls being held at the Guru Nanak Stadium on Wednesday.

Ludhiana, July 18

Police DAV Public School, Civil Lines, girl’s U-19 category while Gymkhana Club in the boys’ U-17 group scored victories to advance into next round on third day of the Ludhiana district sub-junior, junior and youth basketball championship for boys and girls being held at the Guru Nanak Stadium on Wednesday.

In girls (U-19), Police DAV Public School began its campaign on a sound note with an emphatic 21-6 victory over Mehta Public School, Doraha. For the winners, Ishadeep Kaur scored seven points.

In boy’s U-17 section, Gymkhana Club continued to dominate, registering another win. They survived some anxious moments before romping home victorious 57-50 against Green Land School, Dugri.

Luv Kumar contributed 16 points for the winning side whereas Keshav Verma of Green Land fought well, chipping in with as many as 31 points.

In another match in boy’s U-17 category, DGSG School defeated Green Land School, Jalandhar bypass 40-20 in which Babban scored 12 points for the winning side and Navshan dropped in ten baskets for the losing side.

In girls’ section (U-17), Kiranjot Kaur played a pivot role, scoring 18 points to enable her side to record 35-18 victory over BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar.
