Payal, August 17

Subdivision officials in the civil and police administration, who were felicitated for their outstanding contribution to the Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) Scheme implementation, have called upon rank and file in their departments to continue the fight against the menace.

Maintaining that the achievement was the outcome of coordinated effort of all concerned, Payal SDM Swati Tiwana and DSP Rachhpal Singh Dhindsa urged the officials of their respective departments to make the region drug-free.

Acknowledging the gesture shown by office-bearers and activists of various social, educational and religious organisations in spreading awareness about causes and consequences of drug addiction, Tiwana and Dhindsa said efforts would be made to rope in more volunteers in the crusade launched by the government against the menace.

Tiwana and Dhindsa were felicitated by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in recognition of their contribution in getting the drug abuse prevention scheme implemented. A decision in this regard was taken during a high-level meeting of the DAPO programme, which was held at Ludhiana. — OC
