Woman held with 50-gm heroin

LUDHIANA: A 27-year-old woman has been arrested for her alleged involvement in drug trade.

A 27-year-old woman has been arrested for her alleged involvement in drug trade. The police claimed to have recovered 50-gm heroin from her at the main road near Sector 39, Moti Nagar, Ludhiana.

The accused has been identified as Rekha Goyal of New Punjabi Bagh. According to the police, the woman, who was riding an Activa scooter, was on her way to Sherpur Kalan reportedly to supply drug to her customer.

A team led by ASI Rampal was present near Shri Ram Darbar Mandir, Sector 39. The police said they seized the heroin from the woman during checking.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at the Moti Nagar police station.

AIG (STF) Ludhiana Range Snehdeep Sharma said the woman, during interrogation, told the police that she runs a parlour. The woman is a drug addict and had been involved in drug trade for the past one year, he said.

“The woman had purchased the drug from a person named Sunny. She was supposed to sell the drug at a higher rate to her customer. The woman is already facing a drug smuggling case registered at the Tibba police station,” the police said.
