Pamphlets left behind by Maoists after the attack on BJP lawmaker Rajan Kumar Singh’s  parental house in Bihar’s Auragabad district late Sunday night claim they had handed over demonetised notes worth Rs 5 crore to the MLA for exchange and that the latter had failed to pay a levy of Rs 2 crore to them.

The pamphlets warned the ‘operation’ against Rajan Singh and other contractors like him would continue, clarifying the fight was not against BJP or RSS activists, but contractors such as Ranjan Singh.

More than 200 Maoists attacked the MLC’s residence, killing his uncle Nagendra Singh (55). They bombed an under-construction community hall in the village and fired over 100 rounds to intimidate the villagers. Aurangabad Superintendent of Police Satya Prakash said a probe was underway. The MLC denied the charges. “I have never had any association with the Maoists. They have been demanding a levy since 2015”.
