Justice done, says family of student killed in US

Washington/Hyderabad, July 16

A suspect in the killing of 25-year-old Indian student Sharath Koppu in Kansas City has been killed in an exchange of fire with the police, leaving three undercover officers injured. Koppu was fatally shot on July 6 in the back during a suspected attempted robbery at a restaurant where he worked in the US state of Missouri.

For Sharath’s grieving family back home in Hyderabad, “justice has prevailed at last”. “We received the communication about the shooting down of my son’s killer. We are happy that justice has been done to my son. But, that does not bring back my innocent son alive. He became a victim for no fault of his,” said the victim’s father, Ram Mohan Koppu. Ram Mohan said his wife was still in a state of shock and her condition was causing serious concern. — TNS/PTI
