Varanasi gets Rs 557-cr works

LUCKNOW: Prime Minister Narendra Modi bestowed Rs 557-crore development projects on his Varanasi constituency on Tuesday.



Lucknow, September 18

Prime Minister Narendra Modi bestowed Rs 557-crore development projects on his Varanasi constituency on Tuesday.

Addressing a public meeting at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Modi in his 45-minute speech spoke of various development works he had carried out for the holy city. The projects inaugurated include Integrated Power Development Scheme  for Puraani Kashi and Atal Incubation Centre at BHU. Among the projects for which the foundation stones were laid was the Regional Ophthalmology Centre at BHU.

“I am the son of Kashi and I am glad that I am starting another year of my life with blessings of Kashi Vishwanath and Maa Ganga,” he said in Bhojpuri dialect after starting his speech with the chant of “Har Har Mahadev”.

He pointed out that the development work undertaken in Varanasi was done without disturbing the tradition and heritage of the city. He added that modern technology was being integrated with the ancient culture of Varanasi. — TNS
