Mohali, August 7

In Bhola drug case, the CBI court today dismissed the application filed by Chuni Lal Gaba’s grandson Khushyant Gaba for declaring him juvenile.

Khushyant’s name had cropped up for allegedly purchasing two properties, which were attached by the Enforcement Directorate in the case.

Sources said, Khushyant had filed an application in the court, claiming that the properties in question were purchased prior to 2010 when he was a juvenile. The Special Public Prosecutor (ED), Jagjit Singh, said transactions worth crores of rupees had taken place through his three bank accounts that time. “When he attained majority, several more hefty transactions were effected. He did not appear before the ED officials to explain the source of funds despite repeated summons,” said Jagjit Singh.

Khushyant is a grandson of Goraya-based businessman Chuni Lal Gaba, whose several properties were attached by the ED in the case. Gaba’s three sons were also accused in the case. The sources said the ED had attached a total of 11 companies worth Rs 85 crore belonging to Chuni Lal Gaba and his three sons.

Meanwhile, two sisters of another accused Maninder Singh alias Bittu Aulakh appeared in the court and recorded their statements. The next hearing is fixed for August 9.
