Almost two weeks after six youths were allegedly tortured at Sanaur police station, the Patiala police on Thursday “forcibly retired” the erring ASI, Narinder Singh. The move came after another video allegedly showing the ASI beating a person inside the police station went viral.
Patiala SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said: “He has been forcibly retired with effect from August 16. The video shows he is a habitual offender.”
Earlier last week, an FIR was registered against the ASI and a departmental inquiry was ordered against the SHO concerned in the alleged torture case.
