Mohali CBI court convicts 2 policemen of fake encounter in 1993

The CBI court here on Wednesday convicted two police officials in a fake encounter case dating back to 1993.

They were accused of kidnapping one Guvinder Singh, whose whereabouts later were not known.

Inspector Joginder Singh (retired) got six years in jail under Section 365 and another two under Section 344 of the IPC.

Constable Jagjit Singh got a year in jail under Section 201 of the IPC besides being fined Rs 10,000.

Jagjit was released on probation after furnishing a surety of Rs 10,000.
