East Bengal thrash Mohun Bagan 4-2 to win IFA Shield

BARASAT:East Bengal bounced back from a goal down to pip Mohun Bagan on penalties to annexe the U-19 IFA Shield.

East Bengal bounced back from a goal down to pip Mohun Bagan on penalties to annexe the U-19 IFA Shield. Sourav Das put Mohun Bagan ahead in the 47th minute while Dip Saha levelled the scores in the 84th minute. The stalemate prevailed in the extra time before East Bengal sealed the issue 4-2 in the shootout to annexe the title. With scorching heat and the 2.30pm kick-off at the Barasat Stadium’s artificial turf causing discomfort to the players, the referee had to give four drinks breaks during the regulation time.

HC appoints panel for holding MB club elections    

The Calcutta High Court appointed a three-member committee of retired judges for   holding Mohun Bagan club elections by September 15 after the two warring groups of the club opted for a court-initiated settlement. Justice Sekhar Bobby Saraf directed that two members from each group would assist the retired judges. — PTI
