HALLE: Roger Federer continued his fine run on grass ahead of Wimbledon, beating Slovenia''s Aljaz Bedene 6-3 6-4 in the opening round of the Halle Open.

Roger Federer continued his fine run on grass ahead of Wimbledon, beating Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene 6-3 6-4 in the opening round of the Halle Open. Federer will next look to improve his 6-0 head-to-head advantage over Frenchman Benoit Paire, who beat American Steve Johnson 7-5 7-6(5).

Ramkumar crashes out of Ilkley Challenger

Ramkumar Ramanathan crashed out of the Ilkley ATP Challenger event after losing his first round to Austria's Sebastian Ofner. Ramanathan lost 5-7 3-6 to Ofner in 64 minutes. There are four Indians in the doubles draw with Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan up against the British pair of Luke Bambridge and Jonny O'Mara. Purav Raja has teamed up with John Patrick Smith and the third seeds open their campaign against Peter Polansky and Matt Reid. Left-handed Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and his American partner Austin Krajicek have been drawn to meet Hubert Urkacz and Evan King.

Yuki pulls out of Queen's Club opener, Bops in quarters

Yuki Bhambri was forced to concede his opening round match against Milos Raonic of Canada at the Queen's Club Championship in London because of a knee injury. Bhambri was trailing 1-6 1-3 against Raonic when the Indian decided to forfeit the match after he started feeling pain in his knees and didn't want to aggravate it further. Rohan Bopanna and his French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin entered the quarterfinals of the men's doubles event with a 6-3 7-6(3) win over Kevin Anderson and Julien Benneteau.

Rohit likely to take Yo-Yo test, Rahane on stand-by 

The drama surrounding India's limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma's Yo-Yo test continued as he is now set to appear for the fitness test tomorrow at the NCA in Bengaluru. It is learnt that Ajinkya Rahane has been kept on a stand by in case Rohit fails to clear the 16.1 qualifying mark.
