Wild cards Karman Kaur Thandi and Zeel Desai crashed to straight-set defeats in the first round in the $125,000 L&T Mumbai Open here today. India No. 2 Karman, ranked 312 in the world, lost 6-2 6-4 to Slovenia’s Dalila Jakupovic, ranked 242 in the world. Earlier, 18-year-old Zeel lost 6-3 

6-1 to world No. 150 Carol Zhou of Canada in just under an hour. — PTI
