After a month long training stint at the Australian Institute of Sports, Indian pugilists Akhil Kumar and Mandeep Jangra are all set to give their best during the upcoming trials for the national team. The boxers said the tour has proved to be highly beneficial for them. Akhil and Mandeep’s training was funded by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

The duo said such exposure trips help boxers to get acquainted with the latest skills. “Training with different sparring partners in a totally different environment helps a player improve his skill. It has been an extremely fruitful month for us,” added Jangra. Jangra, who won training-cum-competition in Australia, was all praise for the Australian setup. Meanwhile, Akhil said, “We enjoyed training with Australian boxers. The coaches and the support staff helped us in polishing our skills. We could not have asked for a better set of people to train with."
