Dispensaries in Assam

THE official returns of dispensaries in Assam for 1914 show that there were 225 hospitals and dispensaries of which 21 remained closed as the Assistant Surgeons were on military duty. There was an increase of over 22,000 patients treated owing to the opening of travelling dispensaries. The expenditure on European and bazar medicines per 100 patients was Rs. 4.10.9 and 4.14.3 respectively. There was a waste of money over European medicines obtained for branch dispensaries in past years but this is being remedied. The total expenditure was about Rs. 4 ½ lakhs.
