Sale of girls in the Punjab

SEVERAL cases of girls being abducted and sold to persons in the Punjab are reported from neighbouring provinces. One girl aged 9 years is said to have been sold to a man for Rs. 250 and discovered in Amritsar. The sale of girls and abduction of women is principally due to a serious decrease in the female population of the Punjab, and unless a special enquiry is held into the problem we are bound to hear of these and worse crimes in future.
