Washington: US President Donald Trump yet again committed a faux pas on Sunday as he erroneously wrote that “138 million people” were killed in Lanka blasts, instead of just 138. He offered “condolences” to the Lankans and said the US stood ready to help. “Heartfelt condolences from the US to the people of Lanka on the horrible terrorist attacks on churches and hotels that have killed 138 million people and injured 600 more. We stand ready to help!” Trump said in a tweet which was taken down after 20 minutes. PTI

FB, Insta blocked to curb fake news 

Colombo: The Lankan government blocked social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram to prevent the spread of false news  after blasts killed 207 people. The Presidential Secretariat said the decision to block social sites was taken in reaction to false news reports spreading on social media. It said the security forces were conducting investigations into the explosions and that the social media block would continue until investigations were concluded. PTI
