Islamabad, February 26

Days before the visit of Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, Pakistan Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif on Thursday warned India of a "befitting response" to any provocation along the LoC.

"Let there be no doubt that any provocation along LoC and working boundary would meet a befitting response," he said. The Army chief was speaking during his visit to the areas near the working boundary (as Pakistan refers to the international border) in Sialkot, which have been among the most affected by recent cross-border firing.

During his visit, the Army chief was briefed about the latest security situation in the area. Earlier on Thursday, the foreign office said that it would raise all issues with the Indian top diplomat during his visit to Islamabad.
Pakistan has summoned its High Commissioner in India for consultations ahead of Jaishankar’s trip. Abdul Basit has already reached here from New Delhi, according to a Foreign Office official.

"He is now part of in-house talks to prepare for the visit of the Indian foreign secretary," said the official. Agencies
