Bathinda, February 6

The PRTC is all set to add two new 45-seater AC buses to its fleet at the Bathinda depot. These buses will start plying on the Bathinda-Chandigarh route within the next couple of months.

These buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras, hydraulic doors, reclining seats, digital signboards, facility for carrying luggage and GPS-based automatic bus location announcement system. Besides, the PRTC has made it clear that they would not charge extra fare from passengers for travelling in these buses. Commuters will have to pay the same fare as (HVAC) buses charge.

City residents hailed the efforts of the PRTC for adding new AC buses to its fleet. Manpreet Kaur, a city resident, said, “The PRTC is gradually adding general as well as AC buses to its fleet. A majority of passengers opt for AC buses. The PRTC has to add more AC buses to provide comfortable travel to their passengers in the upcoming summer season. It will also contribute to an increase in their revenue.”

Kamaljeet Singh, a student, said, “Plying AC buses at nominal fares is good. Passengers, who were not able to pay up for travel in private AC buses, can now also opt for AC buses in summers.”

When contacted, Surender Singh, general manager, PRTC, confirmed that two new AC buses would start plying on the Bathinda-Chandigarh route soon. Besides, the PRTC will not charge any extra fare from passengers for traveling in these AC buses.
