Exams not everything: PM to city girl

A girl from Government Senior Secondary School, Maluka, got academic tips from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme at New Delhi on Monday.

A number of students from across the country were selected to participate in the event and 26 students from various schools in state got an opportunity to attend the event. Out of these, Ardeep Kaur was among the six girls selected from Maluka Government Senior Secondary School here.

While talking to the PM, Ardeep said, “Though I scored well in my board examinations, but when it comes to competitive exams, my scores falter.” Replying to her, the PM said, “Good marks in exams are not everything. We have to come out of the thinking that exams are everything.” Modi also advised her to read books such as Exam Warriors to counter her fear.

Pariksha Pe Charcha showcased live at CUP

Students, faculty members and senior officials of the Central University of Punjab (CUP) attended the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ live telecast with full fervour and enthusiasm here. The live telecast started using podcast device at seminar hall of the varsity where Vice-Chancellor RK Kohli also joined the session with students and other faculty members.

Prof Kohli said, “The unique initiative of the PM was a good step to reach out to students to tackle exam pressure. This is the third edition of PM’s interaction programme with school students.” He said the PM had answered the questions asked by students and interacted with them about how to beat examination stress.

Prof VK Garg, dean student welfare said, “A lot of enthusiasm is being seen among students and teachers to participate in the unique event. Students also received valuable tips from the PM who is keen to ensure that the students take exams in a relaxed atmosphere and do not come under stress, to ensure better results in the long run.”
