Bathinda, January 23

A workshop on ‘good touch and bad touch’ was organised for students of Silver Oaks School, Dabwali Road, on Thursday. The workshop was aimed at creating awareness among students to ensure their safety. All students of Classes LKG to VI participated in the workshop.

Neetu Arora, a teacher, said: “Every child needs to be taught that their body belongs to them and they have a right to protect it.” Arora, along with Manmehak Sidhu, another teacher, conducted the workshop. They taught students ways to identify ‘no touch’ areas, understand ‘safe adults’ and communicate with parents about any bad experience.

The workshop taught students that bad touch must be handled by shouting ‘no’, running away from the person and informing a safe adult about it. Under the guidance of school principal, student’s were also shown a PowerPoint presentation and videos to make them understand the difference between good and bad touch. “After the session, children will be able to recognise and protect themselves against such dangers from an early age,” added Sidhu.
