Bathinda, February 12

The three-day circle style inter-college kabaddi tournament commenced at DAV College here today. The tournament is being organised by Punjabi University, Patiala. 

Principal Dr Sanjeev Sharma, vice-principal Prof Varesh Gupta, and head of the Physical Education Department Prof Madan Lal accorded a warm welcome to the guests. Punjabi University has appointed boxing coach Jaswant Singh as the observer for the tournament. 

Dr Sharma exhorted students to follow in the footsteps of exemplary sportsmen. 

SD College, Barnala, defeated Degree College, Aklia, in the first match of the tournament. In the second match, University College, Damdama Sahib, trounced Government College, Malerkotla. 

Physical Education College, Jhuneer, beat Government Physical Education College, Patiala, in the third match. 

Hosts DAV College, Bathinda, defeated TDP College, Rampura Phul, on the first day of the three-day kabaddi tournament. GC College, Patiala, and National College of Physical Education, Chupki, won their respective matches.
