Bathinda, March 7

After a five-day probe, the thermal police claimed that Vikesh committed suicide by jumping into the canal.

The thermal police today booked two persons in the death case of Vikesh Kumar (19), a resident of Balla Ram Nagar, Bathinda, whose body was recovered from Sirhind canal four days ago. He went missing on March 2.

Even the victim’s family members were alleging that their son was killed by someone and his body was thrown into the canal. Now, the police found that Vikas ended his life as he was being harassed by two shopkeepers.

Shiv Kumar, SHO, Thermal police station, said a case under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC had been registered on the complaint of Ashok Kumar, father of the victim, against Vishal Kumar Goyal and Ravi Garg, residents of Bathinda.

The SHO said Vikesh worked with Vishal and Ravi. Ashok Kumar said Vikesh was under stress and due to this, he committed suicide. Vikesh’s father said Ravi and Vishal were threatening us to do work with them as Vikesh didn’t want to leave Vishal.

Shiv Kumar said owing to this harassment, he ended his life by jumping into the canal. Both accused were absconding and soon they would be held.
