Chandigarh: Pay Rs 5K for water wastage from April 15 to June 30

The MC will impose a fine of Rs. 5,000 for water wastage from April 15 to June 30. Repeat violators may lose the water connection.

In case of unintentional wastage, such as leakage in a pipe or a water storage tank, the violator will get a two-day notice. In case of non-compliance, the fine will be imposed.

In case of washing of cars or watering of lawns using hosepipes, the challan will be issued on the spot. People, however, can use buckets. People are not supposed to wash courtyards or irrigate lawns in the morning. They are also not supposed to use booster pumps on the main water supply line.

If the fine is not paid, it will be added to the water bill. —
