Chandigarh: Several organisations have declared a Bharat bandh on Monday in protest against the hike in the fuel prices and excise duty. However, city schools will remain unaffected by the bandh call and will function as routine. District Education Officer Anujit Kaur confirmed that the schools would remain open on Monday and no exams would be postponed. President of the Bus Operators Union Manjit Singh said, “There has been a hike of Rs 10 per litre in the diesel prices since March this year.  Though we are also affected by the hike, we cannot make the students suffer by holding a protest as exams of students are going on. However, we support the bandh call in view of the common man’s plight.” tns
