Mohali, June 14
Leading the district in Covid vaccination, Bhajouli village created a record today by covering hundred percent 18+ population.
Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said: “All villages are doing by and large good work in vaccination. Five of our villages - Tarouli, Rasoolpur, Barsalpur, Madanheri and Bahadurgarh - have successfully covered 100 per cent 45+ population, while Bhajouli is leading the district by vaccinating the entire 18+ population.”
“The population of Bhajouli village is 536. Out of this, 356 residents are above 18 years of age. Barring two persons, who have gone abroad, all eligible persons have been vaccinated with at least one dose of vaccine,” he said.
Dayalan said the village panchayat had thus emerged as pioneer among the local civic bodies to be eligible for a special development grant of Rs10 lakh, announced earlier by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for villages achieving cent per cent Covid vaccination target in Punjab.
Congratulating the village panchayat and the residents, he urged other villages of the district to put in their best efforts under the ‘Corona Mukt Pind Abhiyan’ to get hundred per cent people vaccinated.
Dayalan, while appreciating the hard work done by healthcare workers and the local administration, which persuaded the eligible beneficiaries and organised special camps, said they hoped that more villages of the district would also soon attain 100 per cent vaccinated status.
