Punjabi University hosted the 28th annual Indian Art History Congress on “Presentation of effects of abstract and tantric effects on Indian arts” here today. The conference was organised by the Department of Fine Arts along with the Indian Council of Historical Research.
In his presidential address, Prof Devender Handa gave a detailed account of religious and spiritual aspects of ancient Indian art and legacy. He highlighted his points with the help of signs and symbols of Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, embedded on the old coins and walls of various temples.
The Punjabi University VC, Prof BS Ghuman, said, “Such conferences lead to evolution of newer and fresh knowledge in the area among leading and young artists. ” — TNS
