Panchkula, January 17
A Pinjore man was allegedly duped of Rs 10.34 lakh by unidentified people on the pretext of offering him working-from-home jobs.
Lekhram Colony’s Honey Bhardwaj, who works as a production manager at a private firm in Parwanoo, said he had received a message on his phone in November offering extra income while working from home.
After Bhardwaj fell into their trap, the scammers asked him to like a video and sent its screenshot to them. “I received Rs 300 in my bank account after sharing screenshot. The next day, they asked me to invest to earn. I invested Rs 1,000 and after completion of target, I got Rs 1,300 in return. Then I invested Rs 2,000 and got Rs 2,600 in return,” he said.
He said he did not get any money in return after investing Rs 10.34 lakh. The man then filed a complaint with the cybercrime police in Panchkula. The police on Tuesday registered a case against unidentified persons under the IPC Section 420 at the cybercrime police station.
