SAFF Cup: Five CFA wards called for preparatory camp

CHANDIGARH: Five former Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) wards — Nishu Kumar, Hitesh Kumar, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, Daniel Lalhlimpuia and Sumit Passi — have been called for the SAFF Championship preparatory camp.

Chandigarh, July 17

Five former Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) wards —  Nishu Kumar, Hitesh Kumar, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, Daniel Lalhlimpuia and Sumit Passi — have been called for the SAFF Championship preparatory camp.

The camp will be held in New Delhi from July 28.

The probable list also includes Suresh Singh Wangjam, Rahim Ali and Rahul KP. The trio along with Prabhsukhan Singh Gill is part of the AIFF's developmental team Indian Arrows.

Out of 34 players called for the camp, 29 are in the U-23 age-group. Sumeet Passi is the only footballer in the group who is above 23 years of age.

Defending champions India have been clubbed in Group B along with Maldives and Sri Lanka and play their first match against Sri Lanka in Bangladesh on September 6.

"It's a great honour for the CFA that our former wards are performing well in the national circuit. This academy has produced many players in the past, and will continue to serve the country," said Harjinder Singh, former India international and CFA coach. — TNS
