Scooterist hit by car, dies in Mohali

Mohali, September 3

A 25-year-old scooterist, Vijay Semuel, was killed after being hit by a car near Mullanpur this morning.

The Sector 15, Panchkula, resident was employed as a civil engineer in a construction company and was going for a site visit around 9 am when a car, being driven by a PGI employee, hit him on a turn near the DLF park. The victim fell on the road and sustained a head injury.

He was rushed to the PGI by the driver and two security guards where he died during treatment. The Mullanpur police said a case was being registered. However, they did not reveal the identity of the car driver.

Youth dies in road mishap

In Phase 8, Mohali, a 24-year old youth, Vinod Kumar, died after being hit by a car while crossing a road. Eyewitnesses said the deceased appeared to be drunk and was crossing the road when a speeding car hit him and sped away. A Kajheri resident reported the matter to the police. Based on the registration number of the vehicle, the police are trying to establish the identity of the car driver. — TNS
