The Truck Body Builders Association Sirhind protested against the forcibly recovery of 28 per cent GST by department officials against the 18 per cent as reduced by the Union government.

A delegation of the association led by the Fatehgarh Sahib Zila Parishad chairman, Baljeet Singh Bhutta, called on the MP, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, and submitted their demands to be taken up with the Union government.

The association secretary, Tilak Raj, said the Centre government had reduced the GST from 28 to 18 per cent on the representation of the association as the truck body building was a labour work.

“It should be covered under 18 per cent GST. Unfortunately, department officials are still pressurising us and forcibly recovering 28 per cent GST,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chandumajra assured the delegation that he would take up the issue with the Union Minister and get their problem resolved.
