3 hurt as truck hits two bikes
Mohali: Three bikers were injured after a truck hit them from behind on the Dera Bassi-Barwala road on Saturday night. The victims, Sheeshpal (30) and Rinkle (27) of Barwala were on one bike, while Kaithal resident Anil (35) was on another motorcycle. The victims sustained injuries on head and hands. The tipper driver fled the spot leaving behind the vehicle. The accident happened around 8 pm. The victims were admitted to the PGI and the GMCH-32. The police have taken the two bikes and the truck in their possession. — TNS
Elderly man living alone found dead
Mohali:A 68-year-old man was found dead in his one-room quarter at Phase 9 on Friday. The deceased, identified as Jagat Ram, had retired from the Water Supply and Sanitation Department and was a native of Doda. He lived alone. Local residents said he might have died of cold as the room was bolted from inside. The body has been kept in the Civil Hospital mortuary. — TNS

Chandigarh: Local judoka Sapna won gold medal in the -40 kg category on the opening day of the U-19 School Games Federation of India (SGFI) nationals at Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. Shree triumphs in tennis meet
Mohali: Shree Bansal won all four league matches to win the combined U-10 category title on the concluding day of the Roots Tennis Round Robin Championship. Bhavnoor Singh finished second. In the combined U-12 event, Arav Saini claimed the top spot, followed by Ibadat Kaur Sandhu. Chiraag won the combined U-14 event, followed by Sorab Singh. In the combined U-16 category, Sorab Singh Sandhu claimed the top position and Manas Nasra finished second.
