UT cop’s car taken away at gunpoint in Panipat

PANIPAT:Two persons snatched a UT cop’s car at gunpoint near an engineering college in the Israna area on the Rohtak road here late on Wednesday evening.

Two persons snatched a UT cop’s car at gunpoint near an engineering college in the Israna area on the Rohtak road here late on Wednesday evening. 

The victim, Rajender of Dobh village in Rohtak district, is a constable of the Chandigarh Police and posted with the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell.

In his complaint to the local police, Rajender stated that he was on his way to his village in an i20 car (CHO1BP 3301) when near NC College of Engineering, a white Swift car bearing a Chandigarh number intercepted him. 

“There were two persons in the car. One of them was turbaned and aged around 50 years while the other was around 25 years of age. As I stopped my car, one of them placed a gun on my back and asked me to come out of the car. He sprayed pepper in my eyes before fleeing with my car,” he added.

Inspector Kamaljeet, SHO, Israna, said a case had been registered under Section 379B of the IPC and Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act on the complaint of Constable Rajender.
