City residents hail changes in JEE, NEET

AMRITSAR: The HRD Ministry’s move of conducting NET, NEET and JEE (mains) twice a year has been hailed by the residents and experts in the city.

Amritsar, July 9

The HRD Ministry’s move of conducting NET, NEET and JEE (mains) twice a year has been hailed by the residents and experts in the city. The examination will now be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Earlier, the CBSE had been conducting the exam. Now, the NEET will be conducted in February and May, and JEE (Mains) in January and April. The tests will be conducted online.

The students can appear for the test, which is spread over five days, as per their convenience as they have the option to choose the date.

The government plans to bring in transparency in the system of examination through this step. HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar had made the announcement a few days back.

Utaam Singh from Wisdom Coaching Centre, said, “It is a great move. Kids will have two chances of clearing the examination. It will also instill confidence in them.”

Manisha Dhanuka, a school principal, said, “This will double the stress on the children. It will be of no benefit in the long run.”

However, Shruti, a student, said, “I am very happy with the development. The decision has given me confidence to crack the NEET.” — TNS
