93rd Open Punjab Athletics C’ship begins

BATHINDA: The 93rd Open Punjab Athletics Championship U-16 and U-14 (boys and girls) kicked off on Sunday at Sports School, Ghudda, in the district.

The 93rd Open Punjab Athletics Championship U-16 and U-14 (boys and girls) kicked off on Sunday at Sports School, Ghudda, in the district. Chief guest ADC (General) Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu and SDM Amarinder Singh Tiwana inaugurated the event and declared the games open.

Punjab Athletics Association general secretary KPS Brar welcomed the guests. He said around 600 athletics were participating in the event.

In the javelin (girls) U-16 category, Samrithi Rawat of Bathinda bagged the first, Mamta Rani of Faridkot second and Pooja of Muktsar got the .third position.

In high jump (girls), Kamaljot Kaur of Moga bagged the first position and Sameeksha Dixit of Ludhiana bagged second position. In shot put (girls), Jasmine Kaur of Ropar got the first, Arshdeep Kaur of Muktsar second and Janatpreet Kaur of Patiala bagged the third position.

In long jump, Himansi of Muktsar got the first, Kuldeep Kaur of Bathinda second and Sukhveer Kaur of Jalandhar got third position.

In the 16-km walk event, Rubby Devi of Hoshiarpur bagged the first, Tania of Gurdaspur second and Prabhjot Kaur of Gurdaspur bagged third position.

In the 2000m race, Ritike of Hoshiarpur got the first, Reena of Tarantarn second and Saneha of Hoshiarpur got the third position.

In shot-put (boys’) category, Subhkarman Singh of Ropar got first, Birrehamat Singh of Patiala second and Dharminder Kumar of Sangrur got third position.

In high jump, Robindeep Singh of Faridkot got first, Parmod Kumar of Jalandhar second and Mayank Verma of Ludhiana bagged the third position.

In hammer throw, Parbal Mittu of Jalandhar got first, Parvinder Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib second and Karanbir Singh of Jalandhar bagged third position.

In long jump, Sandeep Singh of Ropar got first, Sukhpreet Singh of Sangrur second and Amarpreet Singh of Tarantarn bagged the third position.

In the 5-km walk event, Rajandeep Singh of Amritsar got first, Randeep Singh of Amritsar second and Harbhajan Singh of Patiala got third position.

In the 2000m race, Karanjeet Singh of Tarantarn got first, Surinder Singh of Fazilka second and Navdeep Singh of Patiala got third position.

In the 100m race, Harjeet Singh of Sangrur got first, Lakhdeep Singh of Sangrur second and Gursewak Singh of Kapurthala got third position.

In the 400m race, Hardeep Kumar of Sangrur got first, Arjun of Jalandhar second and Diljot Singh of Gurdaspur got third position.
