‘South Asian countries lack quality workforce’

PATIALA:Prof Lakhwinder Singh of the Department of Economics, Punjabi University, in a research paper on possibilities of industrial development and skill formation for making South Asian countries more competitive, has stated that the South Asian region lacks in imparting school and technical education, while most of its workforce remains trapped in the agricultural sector and suffers from lack of education.

Prof Lakhwinder Singh of the Department of Economics, Punjabi University, in a research paper on possibilities of industrial development and skill formation for making South Asian countries more competitive, has stated that the South Asian region lacks in imparting school and technical education, while most of its workforce remains trapped in the agricultural sector and suffers from lack of education.

He says the educated population on the other hand lacks quality technical education.

“South Asian region lacks industrialisation, which leads to poverty and unemployment amongst youth,” he added.
