Though restrictions have been imposed on the plying of heavy vehicles from Desu Majra to Khanpur Bridge and from Chapparchiri to Khanpur Bridge to accelerate the ongoing construction work of the Desu Majra-Khanpur flyover, in view of the current situation, residents may have to wait more than one year for the construction to complete.

Sources said 29 slabs are yet to be laid by the L&T Company on the pillars of the flyover in Kharar. The company has only laid 57 slabs out of total 134 slabs. The service lane from Balongi to Sunny Enclave is yet to be constructed. About half of the total land required for this project is yet to be made available to the company, say sources. From the Kharar bus stand to Khanpur Bridge, the electricity wires on the right side of the road are yet to be shifted and no work can start till action is taken in this regard.

Similarly, land dispute is going on in Khanpur. According to the sources, the company has also requested to extend the time limit to complete the project by December 31, 2019.

Although it was ordered that traffic would be diverted through the old Morinda Road, the L&T Company has not been able to widen the entire length of the road till now. How and when will the traffic be diverted remains a question.

People in the area are irked and urge the government to complete the work.
