No untoward incident reported from Kharar

KHARAR: Polling passed off peacefully in the Kharar Assembly consistency and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.

Polling passed off peacefully in the Kharar Assembly consistency and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.

According to information from Kharar SDM Vinod Bansal, 61.5 per cent voters used their right to vote. Till noon, voters did not show too much interest in voting. In the Kharar constituency, there were 2,42,530 voters and 256 polling booths were set up.

According to information, 18 per cent polling was recorded till 11 am, while 37 per cent till 1 pm, 47 per cent till 3 pm and 53 per cent voters turned up till 5 pm.

A 96-year-old man Guljar Singh of Khanpur village, who had voted in all the elections held after independence, cast his vote at the village today.

SDM Vinod Bansal said the voting ended peacefully. They did not receive any complaints. He said a VVPAT machine developed snag at Khalsa Senior Secondary School, which was changed at 2:30 pm.

Two all-women polling booths were setup at APJ School and Aneej School where all staff members was wearing pink clothes.

Punjab Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and his family members voted in Kharar. Similarly, Kharar MLA Kanwar Sandhu and his wife cast their vote at Kansal village.
