Chandigarh: The Sanitary Installation Workers’ Union held its conference at the maintenance public health booth in Sector 9 on Saturday. Office-bearers of the union were also elected. Kuldeep Singh was elected as the president of the union. He said the union was fighting for the demands of the employees. Their demands include secure policy for contractual workers, equal pay for equal work, filling up posts in the Public Health Department, etc.. Other office-bearers include Nacchatar Singh, general secretary; Mahi Singh, chairman; Aswinder Singh and Harbhajan Singh, vice-president; Jasbir Singh, cashier; Sukhwinder Singh, Secretary; Ashok Kumar, joint secretary; and Ashwini Kumar, adviser. Chandigarh: Dr Sonia Kanwar (Assistant Professor Sri Guru Gobind Singh College Sector 26) has been appointed by Referee and Judge by the Boxing Australia for the Australian Men and Women U-19 Championship, to be held in Queensland from October 23. Sonia is a 2-star referee. TNS

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Athletics Association will organise North District and South District Athletics Championship on October 20 at the Sector 7 Sports Complex. Those residing, studying or working in Chandigarh will be eligible to participate in this meet. GMHS Mauli Colony win
Chandigarh: Government Model High School (Mauli Colony) won a rich haul of medals in the inter-school wrestling tournament for girls. The team won five gold medals, five silver medals and two bronze medals in both U-14 and U-17 categories. Nisha, Deepika, Anjali and Megha bagged gold medals, while Sanjana, Babli, Anjali and Neha won silver medals in U-14 category, while in U-17 event, Rani bagged gold medals, Bimal won silver, Neelu and Urmila claimed bronze medal each.TNS

Jasgun scored two goals, while Tarun Singh and Daman Singh scored one goal each. Shishu Niketan Public School (Sector 66) posted a 2-0 win over Anne’s School (Sector 69).
