Apprehensive about the outcome of the meeting with Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on February 28, contractual teachers have announced to hold a protest rally in Patiala on March 3.
The announcement came after the teachers, under the Adhyapak Sangarsh Committee, held a state-level meeting at Nehru Park here on Tuesday. The teachers said they would hit the road again if the government failed to address their issues.
Talking to mediapersons, the teachers said they had come to know from sources that the government wanted to stretch the issue till the imposition of the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections.
They said a protest would be stages before all Congress legislators in the district before the meeting. The contractual teachers said they would hold protests in Ghanaur, Samana, Nabha and Patiala from February 21-25.
Atinder Pal, member, Adhyapak Sangarsh Committee, said, “The Congress government wants to stretch the issue further. But we warn them against it. Otherwise, they will have to pay a heavy price for it in the Lok Sabha elections.”
Moreover, they vowed to continue their boycott of the Padho Punjab, Padhao Punjab scheme until the regularisation of their services.
